NUTRITION & DIETARY ADVICE
Food is medicine.
Nutritional medicine assesses & modifies dietary habits, nutritional deficiencies, and nutritional imbalances.
It is important to determine each individual’s nutritional status by investigating food nutrient content & density, the function of the gastrointestinal system and its ability to absorb & assimilate nutrients into the body, and how dietary patterns may be positively or negatively influencing a person’s state of health.
In every initial appointment, a thorough dietary analysis is undertaken, determining how an individual’s nutrient intake, nutrient demands, eating habits, and dietary restrictions (food allergies, intolerances, and food preferences) influence their health status. As well as this, a thorough physical assessment of each patient’s functional nutritional status is conducted.
In some cases, referral for further pathology investigations will be suggested if nutrient deficiency may be contributing to an individual’s symptoms or conditions.
Individually tailored nutritional, and diet & lifestyle advice is prescribed in each treatment plan, with ongoing education and support around dietary habits & food choices to optimise healing and long-term health outcomes.
